The long White Coat, Death can wait..

I met Dr. Pettit during an annual VA audiology visit at the Monterey Clinic and immediately realized that his sense of humor and sensitive intuitive nature made him different from other VA doctors I have met. We got thru my hearing issues quickly and when he learned that I was a starving writer, we spent the rest of the visit discussing the joys and perils of writing. Dr. Pettit's book is a humorous deep dive into the harsh side of what it takes to become a doctor and how the strident and exhausting hands on practice can affect the human spirit. His characters come alive on the pages of, The Long White Coat.

Pettit use Lewis Merritt, the first year resident, whose path suddenly turns to solving a series of unexplainable deaths of hospital patients. This book is stunning!!! It is my new favorite book! I read it so quickly and I am so sad it is over now. HIGHLY recommend. It was very well written and kept me interested and entertained. I also feel like I definitely learned some new things. I’m not gonna say anymore because everyone should just find out for themselves how amazing the book is. LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!

10 STARS CAN’T PUT DOWN NOVEL!

Dr. Petitt’s novel is an extremely well written, intriguing inside look detailing the hard work, long hours, education, abuse, tolerance and diplomacy with humor and compassion that it takes to become a successful surgeon and faculty member.My complaints are: 1) Where is the sequel to this? I want to know what happens next!2) Where is the movie?3) Where is the tv series?4) When can I read about the cochlear implant research?

A must read for anybody in the medical field or interested in the medical field. Even better is the love story (and scene), and the who dunnit murder mystery. An amazing first novel. Congrats! We want more!
